World Boxing Championship 2023: Four Indians Players in Pre-Quarter-Finals So Far

The Indian women continue their stellar performance at the current World Boxing Championships in Istanbul. After Nikhat Zareen (52kg), Parveen (63kg) and Manisha (57kg), Anamika (50kg) also advanced to the quarterfinals on Thursday. Anamika defeated Eugenia Angel of Romania 5-0 one-sidedly. The fight started very aggressive.

Both boxers continued to attack each other as the match began, but Anamika maintained her precise footwork and movement and effectively landed clear shots and saved herself from Eugenia's punch. Anamika will face World Championship bronze medalist Christie Lee Harris of Australia on Sunday.

Zareen's winning streak continues

Nikhat Zareen, who won the gold medal at the Strandja Memorial earlier this year, continued his winning streak and easily knocked out Alvarez in the first round. The 25-year-old from Telangana will face 2023 Asian Championships bronze medalist Lutsaikhani Altantsetseg of Mongolia.

Parveen defeated a boxer 12 years older than her.

Parveen, 22, from Haryana defeated veteran boxer Maria, 12 years her senior, in a unanimous decision in the lightweight bout. Parveen is the 2017 junior national champion. He started aggressively in the first round of the World Championships, but fell behind Maria.

As she returned to the second round, she looked to outclass the 34-year-old Ukrainian boxer and turn the match in her favor. Parveen will face former US junior Olympic champion Jazaira Gonzalez in the quarterfinals on Sunday.

Manisha defeated the boxer from Nepal

Manisha defeated Kala Thapa from Nepal and reached the third round. Previously, Manisha got a bye in the first round.

Anamika defeated Eugenia Angel 5-0

While Anamika defeated Eugenia Ángel from Romania 5-0 unilaterally. The fight started very aggressive. The Indian boxer did not give the Romanian boxer any chance and won the match with a clean decision.
