Their first match required extra time to decide the outcome. Milwaukee played without superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo or Khris Middleton, but Boston also missed Jaylen Brown.

Grayson Allen added 21 points, including a decisive triple to send the game into overtime, while Bobby Portis added 22 points and Jrue Holiday had a double-double of 17 points and 13 assists. However, his efforts weren’t enough to break a season-high 38 points from Celtics guard Dennis Schroder and a 27-point, 11-rebound double-double by Jayson Tatum.

More recently, just two weeks ago, on December 13, these teams met almost in full force and the Celtics still took the win, taking both games of the series so far. This time, it was Tatum who stepped up to score 42 points, the most of the season, by scoring seven 3-pointers on the night.

It was Brown’s first game back after a five-game absence due to a hamstring injury and the All-Star guard added 19 points. Antetokounmpo had a relatively quiet night with just 20 points and eight rebounds, while Middleton had one of his worst games of the season, scoring just four points.
