The two Formula 1 rivals will face off in the race to become the best Formula One driver and lift the 2023 title.
The Lewis Hamilton vs. Max Verstappen rivalry has been brewing for some time. Former F1 world champion Damon Hill compared it to the fight between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost in the late 1980s.
Only 8 points separate the drivers for the Hungarian Grand Prix. Most likely, the winner of the race will make it to the summer break leading the championship.
The rivalry heated up even more after Verstappen’s big accident at Silverstone at the hands of Hamilton. When spoken to after the British GP, Nico Rosberg spoke to talk about sport and said that “I think it will become one of those great rivalries. It reminds me of my rivalry with Lewis also in intensity ”.
Hamilton vs Verstappen: One of the greatest F1 rivalries in history?
Nico, who had been Hamilton’s teammate and had a tremendous rivalry with the seven-time world champion, has firsthand experience of such battles. Rosberg’s final season in F1 saw him overtake Hamilton for the 2016 world championship.
He also went on to say: “It will be one of the biggest rivalries in F1 because Lewis is the best of all time and Max is the star of the next generation. It’s going to be very intense, especially after what happened at Silverstone. The intensity increases ”.
Rosberg, who was the last man to win the title in this Hamilton monopoly, added about the Silverstone incident that “they were giving their all, to the limit, and it was just a racing incident.”
The former world champion has since retired and became a sustainability entrepreneur. He is also an investor in the all-electric Formula E and Extreme E championships.
When asked about life after retirement, Nico said that he enjoyed his new job and spending time with his family. He also mentioned that he missed sports and racing, which were an extreme emotional rush.
