Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has entered the league’s health and safety protocols and will not play the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.

Players who test positive can erase COVID-19 protocols with two negative PCR tests in 24 hours, as LeBron James recently did. Otherwise, Antetokounmpo will likely spend 10 days isolated from the team without physical activity. If he has to spend the entire number of days in isolation, Antetokounmpo will miss the Bucks’ Christmas Day clash with the Celtics at the Fiserv Forum.

Antetokounmpo played Sunday in New York and Monday in Boston. He had a triple-double in the win over the Knicks and scored 20 points in the team’s 117-103 loss to the Boston Celtics.

In a double whammy for Milwaukee, Wesley Matthews has also entered the league’s health and safety protocols and will also be out for Wednesday’s game against Indiana.

This isn’t the first time this season the Bucks have had to deal with COVID-related absences. Earlier this season, Khris Middleton missed eight games after testing positive for COVID-19. The Bucks were 3-5 in his absence.

Antetokounmpo is averaging 27 points, 11.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 26 games so far this season.
