From Monday to till May 28, the Women’s T20 Challenge is in full swing. A total of four matches are going to play between three teams. There are three league stage matches and also one final will be played. BCCI has announced the teams. Along with this, the schedule has also been released. The second match will be between Velocity and Supernova from 03:30 pm today. The match can be watched live on Hotstar and Star Sports networks from 03:30 pm onwards.
Three teams compete against each other in the Velocity, Trailblazer, and Supernova tournaments. Harmanpreet Kaur leads Supernova, Smriti Mandhana leads Trailblazer and Deepti Sharma will captain Velocity. This tournament was started in 2018. This is its fourth season. Last time Smriti Mandhana’s team became the trailblazers champion.
The BCCI Women’s Selection Committee has selected three teams and each team consists of a total of 16 players.

The track is perfect for batting in MCA Stadium, Pune. There is some assistance for pace too in the initial period of innings. Most of the strips are of black soil, which gives good bounce and also a pace to bat on.

The event could not be held last year due to COVID-19
Last year this tournament could not be played due to Kovid. IPL was also played in two phases. The first phase was held in India and the second phase in UAE. Due to this problem, BCCI could not organize the Women’s T20 Challenge.
In view of the improvement in the situation in Corona this year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to return the tournament.
